Hello my
name is Dave. I have 3 sons, Robert, Ben, and Stephen and my wife Debbie.
We had been running our small Rare breeds Farm in the West Country since 1990, but I have
always kept animals.
In 1990
I was introduced to rare breeds by the taste of the meat (it was delicious)
and as I was fed up with eating meat with no taste, I set about getting
rid of all the animals I had at that time and converted to rare breeds.
The first pig I bought was a British Lop which I showed at the Bath and
West & The Royal Welsh Shows, and for which I won several rosettes. I also
bred from her several times. At the end of her life, made into sausages,
plain old pork sausages.

GARTH
MILL: In 2000 we moved to Wales and renovated an old mill into
an 8 bedroom bed and breakfast, farm shop, restaurant and pub,
known as Garth Mill.
NEW INN:
In 2006 we moved to the New Inn in Newbridge-on-Wye and have
fully renovated this lovely old building. We are providing Bed and Breakfast
accommodation there. We have now opened a butcher's shop there, and also
plan to provide bunkhouse accommodation.
SAUSAGES:
We make 60 different flavours of sausages, using only local in-season
ingredients, real alcohol, natural skins, No artificial colourings or
flavourings.
|
PORK:
Because we use Rare breeds and they are kept free range, the pork tastes
like it used to taste years ago, moist but not watery. I guarantee that
you will get proper crackling without salting or scoring. Just put it
in the oven and leave it. It will crackle all on its own.
BEEF:
We hang our beef for 3 weeks and again because of the breed (Dexter) it
tastes wonderful and is very tender without having to pump it with relaxants.
OTHER PRODUCE:
We also supply, Goats Milk and Cheese, Jams and Preserves, Apple Juice,
Welsh Water, Welsh Cheese, Gloucester Cheese, Cooked Ham, Bacon, Home
Cooked Pies, Organic Chutneys and Jams, Dairy Free and Gluten Free Produce,
Home Cooked Cakes.

SHOWING: This
was great fun. As well as winning a few times we met some great people
and have remained friends ever since.
BREEDING:
We do our breeding as naturally as possible. NO CRATES OR STORES. Kept
outside on a free-range additive free system in old fashion arks (tin
sheds). We do not dock tails or take out their teeth nor do we castrate.
